Better Together

Updated: May 12, 2020

Jared and I went to run a couple of errands. We picked up lunch and sat in the truck eating for a few minutes before going inside the store. We watched as an elderly couple got out of their car and as they walked into the store the man reached over and took his wife’s hand. They must have been in their eighties.

I was still studying them when Jared said “they walk better together.” And they did! Before he took her hand they both seemed to limp a bit but when they were walking hand in hand they balanced each other out. They walked much more gracefully and securely together.

What a beautiful image of marriage before us. After jotting down in my mental marriage #goals “hold hands until you die” my mind wandered to our relationship with Christ. I thought about how I was just kind of stumbling, limping and hobbling through life before I allowed Jesus to come alongside me and steady my feet. What an incredible picture of what our walk with Jesus should look like. While life still brings difficulties and we may get a bit off course, as long as we hold on to Jesus our feet will never fail.

And we will walk better together!

Psalm 25:4 “Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths.”
